SCREENING

FABRIC ENGINEERED SCREENING MADE IN WALES BY INTENSION

Fan Vault Covers, Dublin
Intension was commissioned by Fabric Architecture to fabricate a pair of fan vault covers from fabric and cutting patterns provided by the client. The Batyline fabric was specified by the architect as fulfilling the requirement to be both aesthetically pleasing and to have Class 0 flame retardant properties.

WPL Screen
A 20m x 2.5m curved printed privacy screen around a roof-top staff restaurant area. It offered a more interesting but functional alternative to the more traditional options of louvres or solid timber walling.

Stairwell Safety Net - Centrica
Intension was commissioned to design and manufacture a stairwell safety net system with a view to stopping small items such as pens and mobile phones being dropped onto the cafeteria area directly below. It would also serve to screen off people using the staircase from the cafeteria seating area.

The panels were specifically designed to be loose enough to absorb the impact of falling objects. This requirement, together with the geometry of the sail, made the patterning of the fabric unusually difficult, but Intension and Ingenu were able to come up with a flexible and innovative response to these design difficulties. The end result was this attractive entrance foyer design feature.

Cardiff Bay Windbreaks
Intension was commissioned to fabricate and install these representations of old Cardiff Dockland scenes digitally printed onto mesh by Gardners Digital. The screens were designed to act as windbreaks in the garden area of the new Celestia apartment development in the Cardiff Bay area.
